Lick Run Greenway

Construction of the Lick Run Greenway is well underway. Photo shows construction of a 1.5-mile long underground stormwater conveyance box to handle large rainstorms. The creek will be built on top of this structure.
- Anticipated construction: July 2017 to Fall 2019 (substantially complete by Dec 2018; restoration and replacement of plantings through Fall 2021)
- 1.5-mile stormwater conveyance system to convey (carry) stormwater to the Mill Creek. Highlights include:
- Wetland forebay and rain gardens along old Queen City Avenue.
- Headwaters park east of White Street, with off-street parking. This is where the creek starts.
- 1-mile-long creek.
- Improved recreational area, including a new playground and basketball courts, concrete stage area, pedestrian bridge over the stream and off-street parking. The existing water sprayground stays in place and one of the two existing shelters will be relocated.
- Pond area east of Harrison Avenue.
- Stormwater conveyance box underneath the entire system to handle large rainstorms.
- Additional details:
- Maintenance/Multi-use access paths.
- Lighting.
- Safety railing.
- Retaining wall along urban waterway and along Westwood Avenue.
- Five vehicle bridges at Harrison Avenue, Grand Avenue, Quebec Road, Van Hart and Kebler.
- One pedestrian bridge over the urban waterway in the civic recreation area.
- Extensive landscaping and planting along the urban waterway.
- Stormwater planters along south side of Queen City Avenue.
- Recirculation of water from the pond to the headwaters area.
- 16,000 linear feet of storm sewers to collect stormwater from the areas adjacent to the Greenway.
